BBC East in St. Matthews

The original Bluegrass Brewing Company opened in 1993 at this location, 3929 Shelbyville Road. It is the city's oldest remaining brewpub and was the first to make a significant mark on the national brewpub and microbrewery scene.
Louisville’s best beer is made at this location under the supervision of head brewer Jerry Gnagy. You may watch the brewing operation as you enjoy your meal through large windows in the dining room or dine alfresco in the Beer Garden. Or if sitting at the bar is more your style pull up a chair to our spacious and inviting bar where no one is a stranger.

Children are always very welcome; there’s even a play area just for them!

BBC's food has been described as “some of the tastiest bar grub around” by the Louisville Courier-Journal. Perennial restaurant reviewer Robin Garr only has only good things to sayRead the review... about both the beer and the food. Preview our St. Matthews menu with this PDF (147k).

Click here for the best place to park downtown...

The best place to park is the 5th St. Garage, at 630 S. 5th St., between Broadway and Chestnut. The entrance is on 5th Street which is a one-way street going North. The garage charges an hourly rate of $1.50 except when there is an event at the Palace Theatre — then it is a flat $4 fee.

DAYTIME PARKING: BBC will validate your parking ticket for up to two hours when you spend a minimum of $10.

EVENINGS BEFORE 7 PM: BBC will validate your ticket.

The garage ticket booth closes at 7 pm during the week and is unattended on weekends, except for special events. The gates are open when the garage is unattended, so you may park for free.

If you leave after 7 pm you won’t have to pay to park. Occasionally they put an envelope on your car saying you need to leave money for parking. If they do, leave the validated parking ticket from BBC.

If you are asked to pay in advance, bring us a receipt or ticket showing you paid to park at the event and BBC will give you a free 1/2 pint of BBC beer; you will have parked for 1/2 price.

OTHER PARKING:
• On-street metered parking on Broadway which is free after 6 pm.
• City-owned parking garage behind the Brown Hotel on 3rd St.
— BBC will validate your ticket
